- Before washing the garment make sure you have closed all zips, unbuttoned and flattened the collar and cuffs. Checked pockets and the lining for any forgotten objects.
- Turn the garment inside out to limit the fabric being rubbed and picking up fibres from other items of clothing.
- Always read the label for the washing instructions.
- Garments of a similar colour may be washed together, if their washing instructions are the same.
- Do not over load your machine.
- Always use the correct quantity of detergent, according to how dirty your garments are.
- Always check your clothing for marks or stains and treat them as quickly as you can, see our guide to removing stains below.
Drying
Always check the label to verify if the garment can be dried in a tumble dryer. If it is the case:
Type of clothing Drying temperature (approximately)
Cotton 50-100 minutes
Cotton polyester 35-55 minutes
Heavy Synthetics 45-65 minutes
Light Synthetics 30-40 minutes
If the label states to not tumble dry, then other drying methods are recommended.
Dry flat and make sure you reshape it into its original form.
